18th Century French Provincial “Buffet Deux Corps” in Carved Fruitwood

An exceptional late 18th-century French Provincial “Buffet Deux Corps” handcrafted in Normandy, circa 1790. This finely constructed buffet is fashioned from solid fruitwood and features a beautifully aged honey-toned patina that has developed over centuries.

The upper cabinet is crowned with an arched cornice adorned with hand-carved floral medallions and voluted scrolls. Two glazed doors open to reveal shaped and molded original interior shelves, ideal for display. Below, the lower cabinet includes two paneled doors with matching carved flourishes, enclosing a spacious storage area with interior drawers and compartments.

The cabinet is unified by elegant carved scrollwork, fluted pilasters, and floral motifs throughout. The shaped apron and classic escargot feet (snail feet) add an element of balance and charm, characteristic of Normandy craftsmanship. Retains its original brass hardware and locks.

A remarkable statement piece that blends rustic elegance with refined detailing, perfect for a French country interior or a collected European aesthetic.
