19th Century Turkish Copper and Brass Coffee Urn
An exceptional 19th-century Turkish copper and brass coffee urn, crafted with exquisite detail and symbolic ornamentation. The bulbous body is richly adorned with hand-engraved Ottoman floral arabesques framed within pointed arches, exhibiting superb craftsmanship and decorative complexity. A solid brass handle in the form of a stylized dragon adds sculptural dimension and symbolic strength, while the spout is gracefully lipped and textured with feather-like detailing.
The domed lid, topped with a finely cast acorn finial, opens on a double-hinged mechanism to reveal the original interior percolator- an uncommon survival that speaks to the piece’s authenticity and functional heritage. The urn rests on a delicately pierced footed base, elevating the form and allowing for heat diffusion during use.
A striking example of late Ottoman metalwork, this urn combines aesthetic refinement with ceremonial purposes, likely used in elite domestic or hospitality settings.
