Late 19th Century French Provincial Yellow Glazed Terracotta Wine Jug

A charming example of rustic French craftsmanship, this late 19th-century wine jug was hand-thrown in Provence around 1880. Made from terracotta and finished in a vibrant yellow glaze, it features an arched handle, side spout, and secondary loop handle for ease of pouring.

Its surface bears the beautiful irregularities and wear expected from utilitarian pottery of the region. Timeworn chips in the glaze and exposed clay add depth and authenticity. Once used for transporting or storing wine or oil, it now serves as a sculptural accent with enduring charm and character.
