Pair of French Provincial Bronze Wall Sconces with Leaf Ornaments
A graceful pair of 19th-century French Provincial wall sconces, made in Paris circa 1860. Originally designed for gas lighting and later converted to electric, these sconces feature elegant “S”-shaped scroll arms adorned with finely cast acanthus leaf decorations. Each arm is mounted to a carved hexagonal wooden backplate with a central bronze foliate rosette.
The dark, time-worn patina on the bronze contrasts beautifully with the rustic character of the wooden backings, lending the pair a balanced mix of refinement and provincial charm. The overall design reflects a restrained neoclassical influence, with organic detailing and sculptural quality.
Ideal for flanking a mirror, fireplace, or entryway, these wall sconces bring both function and timeless elegance to any interior!
